Joe The Circle began life as a comic strip by
Mike Shapiro, originally published in his college newspaper. I first stumbled
across his website in 2001 and as I read through the archives, I immediately saw
the potential to turn the strip into an animated film.
Fast forward to 2012. After many failed attempts to figure out the various animation software I'd tried, I finally found one I could use (Anime Studio 8 if you're wondering). After taking some time to learn the ins and outs of the software, I got up the courage to email Mike and ask permission to adapt one of his stories. Permission was granted, and so I began the long, slow, fun process of working on my first serious filmmaking attempt. I hope you'll enjoy the results.
